Our work: setting up the store in Shopify — product presentation, variants, catalogue, mobile shopping and modifications. “On the website today” describes what can be seen in the store now.

The business and its customers

About the project

ZARENA sells genuine leather bags — medium shoulder bags, small crossbody models, backpacks and accessories. Customers choose by model and occasion, then by colour: the same model often comes in many shades.

In fashion, the photo and the feel of the brand sell as much as the price. So the store has to look like a brand, not a catalogue, and still lead quickly to “Add to cart”.

Task and scope

The store has to show the brand’s collections with its distinctive photography and make choosing a model and colour easy on a phone.

  • Collections by model, size and season
  • A product page with many colour variants
  • Trust: reviews, delivery, a gift
  • Prices in euro and lev

How the store was built, part by part.

Six parts of the work on the Shopify store. Each one starts with the task and ends with what the customer and the brand’s team get.

  1. 1Shopify store

The store carries the brand’s character.

    The task
A brand with a history going back to 1970 and many models needs an online store that looks like the brand and that its team can run on its own.
    What we did
Setting up the store in Shopify: page structure, navigation and the presentation of the collections around the brand’s campaigns.
    Why this way
Shopify takes care of hosting, payments, security and updates. So the work goes into presentation and selling, not into maintaining a server.
    How it helps
The team adds products, prices and campaigns from the admin without a developer for every change; the customer sees a store with the brand’s character.

On the website today: campaign photography on the home page, a bar with the current promotion and a menu by collection.

  2. 2Catalogue and collections

The choice starts with the type of bag.

    The task
Customers search by type and occasion — a medium shoulder bag, a small crossbody, a backpack — and only then by colour.
    What we did
Organising the catalogue into collections by type and size, which lead from the menu and the home page to the models.
    Why this way
In Shopify a collection is both a page and navigation: a new model joins the right collections and appears everywhere it should.
    How it helps
A shorter path to the right model for the customer; for the team — a new model without changing the menu.

On the website today: “Newest”, “Shoulder”, “Crossbody” tags and filters by price, model and colour in the collection.

  3. 3Product presentation

Everything for the decision — on one screen.

    The task
In fashion, the purchase is decided by the photo, the detail and trust. The product page has to bring these together next to the price.
    What we did
Product presentation: photos, description and the layout of the product page around the purchase decision.
    Why this way
The customer shouldn’t have to look for information elsewhere: the closer it is to the button, the fewer questions remain.
    How it helps
The customer sees the model, the price and other buyers’ opinions without leaving the page; every new product follows the same format.

On the website today: a rating and reviews with photos, “Watch video review”, free delivery and a gift above a certain amount — next to the cart button.

  4. 4Variants

Product variants with a visual choice.

    The task
One model comes in many colours. With a drop-down list, the customer can’t see the shade before choosing it.
    What we did
Setting up the product variants and their presentation on the product page.
    Why this way
Colour is the second decision after the model. The thumbnail of each variant shows the exact shade before the customer clicks.
    How it helps
The customer picks the exact variant straight from the product page — on both desktop and phone.

On the website today: all the model’s colours as thumbnails under “Colours”.

  5. 5Mobile shopping

    Easy with one thumb.

    The task
Customers also browse the collections on their phones. The choice has to be easy on a small screen.
    What we did
Setting up and checking the path on a phone: collection, filters, product and colour choice.
    Why this way
A phone shows less at once. The filters fold away, the tags stay within reach, and the colours are big enough to tap.
    How it helps
The customer gets from the collection to the chosen colour without zooming and without unnecessary scrolling.

On the website today: “Filters (all)” as a separate button, the tags in the collection and the colour thumbnails in two rows.

  6. 6Modifications

Changes only where they bring value.

    The task
The ready-made theme covers the basics, but the brand has its own needs in presentation and selling.
    What we did
Modifications to the store where the standard settings aren’t enough.
    Why this way
The less the store deviates from the standard, the easier it is to update together with the platform. So changes are made where there is a clear benefit.
    How it helps
The store gets what the brand needs and stays easy to maintain.

The specific modifications will be listed after confirming them with the owner.
